Being pulled over and arrested on suspicion of DUI/DWI is an embarrassing, frightening experience. People are often tempted to plead guilty just to end the ordeal. However, this will result in hefty fines, the loss of your driver's license and a permanent crime on your record. In addition, your auto insurance rates will rise significantly.
You can challenge DUI/DWI charges, and protect your license and record. I am attorney Rich Cassady, and I will fight hard to protect your interests. As an aggressive, experienced trial lawyer, I will make the prosecution prove its case at every step of the process. This is a good opportunity to gather evidence for the criminal case as well as to protect your driving privileges. I handle cases in Macon County, Cherokee County and beyond.
Even a first DUI/DWI conviction can have harsh penalties. Depending on your record, you may face first-offense DWI penalties in North Carolina that include:
If you are convicted of a subsequent DUI within seven years, the penalties include permanent revocation (four years) of your license, a minimum of seven days in jail, supervised probation and the possible installation of an ignition interlock device. A fourth DWI/DUI offense within seven years may result in a felony habitual impaired driving charge.
I will examine the arrest record, police procedure, and the results of breath or blood tests you were given. If the police violated your rights, I will file motions to have evidence suppressed.
